What is our ministry?

Discalced Carmelite friars serve God’s people.  Called by Christ and sustained by Christ they help others to experience the presence and companionship of Christ in their lives.  The ministry of Carmelite friars is varied and fulfilling.  It includes celebrating the sacraments, preaching the Gospel, building community, directing retreats, facilitating faith sharing, providing prayer guidance and spiritual accompaniment, and supporting the sick and the needy.  The Discalced Carmelite Order has many well known saints and a rich tradition of spirituality.  This heritage inspires and guides Carmelite friars in whatever ministry they are involved.  In particular, it enables them to assist those they serve to discover and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
